Rodgers Ranch is a registered historical site, and used to be a real working farm.  The city of Pleasant Hill has kept and maintained the core of the farm, and has given us the opportunity to resurrect it as a place to learn about gardening and farming. I am looking for local knowledge, support and expertise on organic gardening. It would be great to meet other people who are interested in sharing their successes and what didn't work so well. If you are interested in growing your own backyard garden and/or orchard come meet with us. We can even explore permaculture, which more people will be interested in when all of the water meters are installed in the Sacramento area.

Urban homesteading can be a fun and fulfilling way to decrease your carbon footprint while learning useful methods for producing your own wholesome home staples. We will be exploring canning & preserving, animal husbandry and beekeeping, gardening and mycology, foraging and gleaning, home crafting and sewing, permaculture practices, and the use of native plants for both culinary and medicinal uses.
